Entertainment sites

So, you wanna build the next You Tube or GameSpot? Good luck with that.

Still, there’s room for more video, gaming and other entertainment sites, especially if you cater to particular niches.

You can build an entertainment site cheaply, by simply linking to or embedding content from sites such as YouTube. But sooner or later, you’re going to need original content if you expect to attract and keep a large number of visitors.

The issues involved in running an entertainment site:

  • Expense. If you’re going to build a full-fledged video, gaming site, podcasting network or virtual world, you’ll need folks like videographers, Actionscript 3 developers, 3D renderers, sound technicians. Or the software to create such things yourself. And will put a lot of hours into building the site.
  • Legality. Though you may not know it by looking at all the stuff on the web, the U.S. and other countries still have copyright laws, and you can get into trouble by violating them.
